At Priory Dental Care, we think one good deed deserves another…

Good deed toothbrush…so, when you buy a Good:Deed Toothbrush (now available at reception), another one is given to a child in need.

The Dental Wellness Trust charity is aiming to make a real difference to the lamentable figure that 75% of the world’s children have no access to a toothbrush.  So, for every Good:Deed Toothbrush sold, an identical one will be given to a child somewhere in the world who does not have one.

Dr Linda Greenwall, dentist and founder of the Dental Wellness Trust, explained: “We are advising the public that to get toothbrushes to a child in need, all they have to do is buy one for themselves from their dental practice. The money raised buys a toothbrush for a child in the UK or the developing world who doesn’t have access to even the most basic means of dental health.”

Why we give…

  • The most common cause of school absenteeism is tooth ache
  • 75% of the world’s children have no access to a toothbrush to clean their teeth
  • 80% of children in South Africa suffer from tooth decay

This latest initiative only forms part of the work done by Dental Wellness, which continues to do great work bringing dental care to the developing world. They’ve provided supervised tooth brushing programmes for 1 million children in South Africa, and an evening programme called LiveSmart aimed at helping 5,000 children clean up each night by providing them with brushes, toothpaste and soap.

The charity also works with elderly, disabled and marginalised people in the UK, Eastern Europe, Ghana, Rwanda, South Africa, and Israel to help improve their access to good oral health.

If you’d like to support the Dental Wellness Trust campaign, please ask reception about buying a Good:Deed toothbrush and help to give a child the chance to live a healthy life free from the pain of tooth decay.
