Our Team
The practice considers that our team members are our most valuable asset and as such are committed to the ongoing support, development and training of all team members.
Dentist: Dr Martin Stewart B.Ch.D., B.A.
I qualified in Leeds in 1974 and moved to Norfolk in 1975 to work in Swaffham. I moved to Downham Market to set up my own practice in Paradise Road in 1980. I bought and moved to the present building in 1983, which was at that time the Downham Market Labour Club and have worked here full time in general practice since then. I gained a B.A. degree in Social Sciences from the Open University in 1994, studying principally psychology.
Dentist: Dr Rebecca Patterson B.D.S.
I qualified from Cardiff Dental School in 1997.
I spent six years working in a practice in Nottinghamshire as an associate. I then moved to Scotland and spent 3 years working between two practices again as an associate. I moved to Norfolk in July 2006, and started at this practice in the August.
Hygienist: Sheila Hennessy E.D.H.
I qualified at Kings College Hospital Dental School, London in March 1985. I then remained at the hospital for a further 3 years as the Staff Hygienist. In 1988 I joined a Family Dental practice in S. E. London. I remained with that practice until Feb 2000, when I moved to Wisbech, joining this practice in March of that year.
Practice Manager: Marie Giles
I joined the practice in 1994, working as both a Dental Nurse and a Receptionist. In 1997 I qualified as a Dental Nurse, after passing the NEBDN National Certificate in Dental Nursing.
I left the surgery in 2001 to become an Accounts Administrator for a local company. However, I was delighted to rejoin the practice in 2008 as Practice Manager and I am currently working towards a Diploma in Dental Practice Management.
Dental Nurse: Victoria R.D.N
I have worked as a Dental Nurse for several years, and joined Dr Stewart’s practice in 2003. I qualified in May 2007 after the passing the NEBDN National Certificate in Dental Nursing.
Trainee Dental Nurse: Rosie
I have lived locally all my life and joined the practice in 2006 as a Dental Nurse for both Dr Stewart and Dr Patterson. I am currently working towards a nationally recognised NVQ in Dental Nursing. When I am not nursing, I also enjoy working as a Receptionist.
Trainee Dental Nurse: Vickie
I joined the practice in August 2008 and I am working towards qualification as a Dental Nurse. Since June 2009 I have also been working as a Receptionist and I am thoroughly enjoying both of my roles within the practice. Prior to working here I was a beauty therapist with many qualifications in this field.
Dental Nurse/Receptionist: Tina, R.D.N.
I have lived in Downham Market since 1990 and came to work for Dr Stewart in 1993 as a Dental Nurse. In my second year here I started working towards the NEBDN National Certificate in Dental Nursing and became qualified in 1996.
I have worked mostly as a Receptionist since October 2000 but I still enjoy nursing when the need arises as it keeps me up-to-date with new procedures and techniques.
Receptionist: Caroline
I moved to the Downham Market area in 2008 and joined Dr Stewart's practice in 2009 as a Dental Receptionist. Prior to moving to Norfolk, I mainly worked in reception, administration and accounting roles and have several qualifications in these fields.
