Dental Implants

The closest thing to natural teeth, dental implants can restore your ability to bite and chew normally, giving you back a beautiful-looking, confident smile.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are the next best thing to natural teeth. They offer a secure, effective and aesthetic solution to the challenges of missing teeth, allowing you to eat, speak and smile with confidence.

Implants are placed in the jaw bone to perfectly mimic natural tooth roots. They are made of a biocompatible titanium material that can stimulate bone growth, creating a strong, stable foundation for a crown, bridge or denture to be fitted on top.

Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or a whole arch (full arch restoration). They offer a fixed alternative to removable appliances, such as removable dentures, allowing you to regain the look, feel and function of natural teeth, and eliminate the worry that your appliance will become loose or slip when you eat or speak. More importantly, dental implants do not impact on healthy adjacent teeth.

Why replace missing teeth?

Losing a tooth can impact the surrounding teeth, through a lack of stability and support. Your teeth are like a team – when one member is gone, the others start to shift to fill the gap. This misalignment can lead to crooked teeth, uneven bites, additional wear and tear, and an increased risk of fractures, tooth decay and gum disease.

Teeth naturally stimulate the jawbone through chewing pressure, which helps maintain its density. When a tooth is lost, this stimulation ceases, and the bone in that area can begin to deteriorate and lose density, due to a process called “bone resorption”.  Over time, significant bone loss can alter facial structures, causing the jawline to appear sunken or uneven. Bone loss can also make dentures loose and uncomfortable as they no longer have adequate bone support.

Why choose dental implants?

  • Placing an implant after losing a tooth is the most effective method to prevent bone loss, as it mimics the function of a natural tooth root and stimulates the jawbone during chewing.
  • Placing dental implants may seem like a big procedure, but it is completely safe, has a very high success rate, with most patients experiencing little to no discomfort.
  • Dental implants do not negatively impact on healthy adjacent teeth.
  • Dental implants not only transform your smile, but can significantly improve your self-confidence and quality of life.
